Light grey is a quiet, neutral shade, the colour of a well-worn sweatshirt. It's low-key and goes with most brand palettes, which is why sports brands, universities and personal trainers use it for merch.
Most strong inks look good here. Black and navy are the safest, red and royal blue give a sporty feel, and a deep green can look very smart. White has some contrast but it's subtle, and pale colours tend to vanish.
