Welcome pack bags

A welcome pack bag has to hold everything you put in it and still be worth keeping once it's empty. We print them in Leeds for new starters, guests, members and homeowners, in 1 to 4 spot colours with no fixed minimum. For most packs, a gusseted canvas tote is the one to pick: it stands up and takes a box, a notebook and a bottle without bulging.

  • New starters

    A bag for the first-day kit: notebook, bottle, lanyard and a few treats. It goes home and gets used for the gym or the shopping.

The pack gets unpacked in a day. The bag can last years if it's one people want to carry, so design it for life after the first week.

A small, neat logo usually beats a big one, and a line people like, such as your street or a local saying, beats a slogan. Keep the welcome message for a card inside: every bag in a run gets the same print, so the bag can't carry anyone's name.

Putting the packs together

  • Measure the biggest thing going in. A boxed mug or a hardback needs a gusseted bag; a flat shopper won't take a box.
  • Order for the next few months of starters, not just this month's. The screen charge is spread over the whole run, so bigger runs cost less per bag.
  • Leave the date off. An undated bag still works for the starters who join next spring.
  • Put names on a card inside, not on the bag. Screen printing puts the same design on every bag.
  • Need them this week? Three of the bags above are in our express range, which can be printed from the next working day. The two canvas totes go express in Black or Natural.
  • Order an unprinted sample first, and pack it with the real contents before you order the run.

What should go in a welcome pack bag?

Can you print each new starter's name on their bag?

No. Screen printing puts the same print on every bag in a run, so names can't change from bag to bag. Put the name on a card inside, and keep the bag design one that suits everyone.

Will a laptop fit in a welcome pack bag?

A 13 or 15-inch laptop fits inside our 38 x 42 cm totes, but they aren't padded. They're for carrying the pack home, not for use as a laptop bag.

How quickly can you print welcome pack bags?

We only take on a few people a month. Is a small order worth it?

There's no fixed minimum, and prices on each bag start from 25. Each colour has a one-off screen charge, so ordering for several months of starters at once spreads that charge over more bags.

Can hotels and holiday lets order bags?

Yes. Many use a natural canvas or jute bag for a welcome hamper of local produce. Ask us if you'd like help picking one.
