Light grey is a soft mid grey, like a winter sky. It's neutral and easy on the eye, and in organic cotton it has a clean, Scandinavian sort of feel.
Most dark and strong inks show up well. Black and navy are the safest bets, forest green and burgundy look refined, and a bright orange or pink adds a modern touch. White gives only a subtle contrast, and pale pastels will disappear.
