Turning the collection into a print
Screen printing lays down flat spot colours, one screen per colour, up to four on each side. That suits anything drawn in line: engravings, botanical plates, maps, architectural drawings, lettering, badges and emblems. Those are often the best-selling designs anyway, because they look good at a distance and on a shoulder.
A painting can work too, once your designer redraws it into two to four flat colours. The result is bolder and more graphic than the original, which suits a tote.
Photographs and paintings reproduced in full detail don't suit screen printing, and we'd rather tell you now. If that's what the design needs, a printer that offers a full-colour method is the better choice for that product.

How heavy should a shop tote be?

About 8.3 oz per square yard. Heavyweight canvas: stands up on its own, carries a laptop, and is the one people use for years.

Can you print a painting from our collection on a tote?
Not as a photographic copy. We screen print in 1 to 4 flat colours, so a painting needs redrawing into a few colours first. Line work, engravings, maps and lettering print very well as they are.
Can we pay by purchase order?
Yes. Museums, councils and larger organisations can pay against a purchase order and invoice: ask us before you order. See public sector bags for how it works.
What quantity should we start with?
There's no fixed minimum, and prices on each bag start from 25. A short first run lets you test a design in the shop before you order more.
Which bags are organic or recycled?
The Premium Organic Cotton Tote Bag, the Premium Organic Canvas Tote Bag and the Premium Organic Canvas Contrast Panel Tote Bag are GOTS-certified organic cotton. The recycled canvas totes are GRS-certified recycled cotton. See our recycled bags and organic cotton bags.
Do you print paper carrier bags for the shop?
Yes. We print logo paper bags in twisted handle, flat handle, luxury kraft and laminated styles, quoted by hand with no fixed minimum. See paper bags.
